The Oscars 2012
My Score 19/24 (79%)
I won’t ramble on about the Oscar festivities tomorrow. Yesterday I published a thorough article on the Academy and the danger they may be facing, pending the result of this show. You may find the editorial here.
Last year I scored a 15/24 for my predictions – which amounts to a mere 63%. Not bad, not great. My ballot ended up winning some money. But that’s beside the point.
So what have I learned? If you want to win your pool, dig deep. Typically shy away from your own personal selections, and attempt to get in the shoes of an elderly person.
Sound silly?
It is. However, it’s the Oscars. We love the show because we love movies. It’s imperfect and too long, but it’s a landmark in the realm of cinema. Enjoy tomorrow.

Good luck with your predictions mate. We share about 90% the same – though I didn’t predict the shorts. Fingers crossed for some surprises.
Thanks for reading my friend.
We got the exact same predictions in the acting category. I was hoping for Viola to win, too, alas …
I’m noticing that you got all three of the shorts categories right, as well as the documentary feature and foreign language. That’s a pretty good record since those are always the toughest ones.
…. Ruth …. I felt the Academy didn’t an incredibly underwhelming job in the female acting categories. Still, great minds think alike.
….. Never …. It’s all about the research and going with your gut feeling.
