Fuck these nominations. Fuck ‘em all.
I’m sorry Alex. My deepest condolences go out to you.
I’m surprised Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close got in there. It kind of came and went, with not much critical acclaim
I’m planning on seeing it this week. Hopefully it’s worth of the acclaim.
For me the big surprises were the snubs for Fassbender, Brooks, and Woodley. I expect that the Academy wasn’t thrilled to recognize an NC-17 film or a violent crime drama. I’m most surprised that Woodley didn’t make it, but I guess they liked The Help enough to have to include two supporting actors. It’s also crazy to see Hugo and War Horse get so many nominations. I thought there might be more diversity in the secondary categories.
Apparently not. War Horse is fine and you know my stances on both THE HELP & HUGO.
[...] Sam over at Duke & The Movies got up early to watch the nominations come through… [...]
I was pretty outraged by the whole NOM affair. But I need to get over it, as I know I will still be up all night watching it!
Ahh, won’t we all.
It was great seeing Gary Oldman finally get the Oscar nomination he deserves. Can he turn that into a win…probably not – he deserves it but I’m guessing the Academy will play it safe.
He most certiainly deserved it, but he won’t
Win.
